Billing Information
Fees and billing guidance before you attend
We want patients to understand how billing works before arriving. Consultation fees can vary by doctor, appointment length, Medicare eligibility, and whether procedures or clinical paperwork are involved.
Current fees should always be confirmed with reception before booking. This page explains the billing structure and the questions patients should ask in advance.
| Appointment Type | How Billing Usually Works | What Can Affect Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Standard GP consultation | Private billing may apply, with Medicare rebates where eligible. | Doctor policy, consult length, concession status |
| Long or extended consultation | Usually billed higher than a standard appointment because of increased time and complexity. | Time used, number of issues, documentation needs |
| Care plans and health assessments | Billing depends on the clinical item used and whether review components are included. | Item type, review needs, follow-up structure |
| Procedure appointments | May include consultation, procedure, and consumable-related billing elements. | Treatment type, facility use, dressings or consumables |
| Third-party or insurer matters | WorkCover, TAC, and insurer matters may follow different billing workflows. | Claim status, paperwork, pre-approval rules |

| Question to Ask Reception | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Is this a standard or long consultation? | Time allocation usually affects billing and the quality of the review. |
| Will any additional procedure or consumable fee apply? | Procedure bookings can include more than one billing component. |
| Is Medicare claiming available for this visit? | Eligibility and item type influence the rebate process. |
| What happens if I need to cancel or move the booking? | Understanding notice periods helps avoid avoidable charges. |
Before you book
- Ask about the expected consult length
- Explain if multiple problems need to be discussed
- Mention if forms, reports, or procedures are likely
